The iPhone 4S Has Been Jailbroken

Listen up, fanboys, because this is one you won't want to miss. The iPhone 4S has been officially jailbroken.
iClarified reports that the iPhone Dev-Team found a way to get Cydia running on both the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2, though the jailbreak is "VERY preliminary." There are still big pieces missing and plenty of work left to do, so unfortunately the jailbreak won't be released to the public. Luckily, we can at least get a peek from this video.
For the uninitiated, Cydia lets users browse and install unofficial apps on their iDevice. MuscelNerd, the lead developer of the iPhone Dev-Team, says this is a userland exploit that occurs after iBoot is out of the picture.
Check out the video below, where you can see the iPad 2 running Cydia:
Started by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, Apple has expanded from computers to consumer electronics over the last 30 years, officially changing their name from Apple Computer, Inc. to Apple, Inc. in January 2007. Among the key offerings from Apple's product line are: Pro line laptops (MacBook Pro) and desktops (Mac Pro), consumer line laptops (MacBook) and desktops (iMac), servers (Xserve), Apple TV, the Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server operating systems, the iPod (offered with...

Video: ‘Siri, Pour Me a Beer’
The folks at RedPepper software might have scored more nerd points if they'd had Siri serve tea (Earl Grey, hot), but it's hard to argue with a Rube Goldbergian machine that brings you a beer when you ask for it. Behold: Beeri.
Beeri is less of an app or device and more a convoluted process to bring beer to a lazy iPhone 4 owner. It works like this:
Tell Siri to "Text Tweet Beeri," and include the word "pour" in the message body. This sends a text which is then turned into a tweet. Beeri, an Arduino based robot, sees the word "pour" and roars into action. A remote controlled truck with a can of beer pre-loaded speeds off down the table and rams into a spike at the far end, ripping open the can.
The freed beer pours through a hole in the table to a waiting glass beneath, from whence it can be supped.
It is ridiculous, messy and completely impractical. And it is also a sure indicator of many, many Siri-based projects to come.

Google Plus Adds Powerful Photo Edit Suite. Free
Google Plus has added Instagram-like controls to its photo section. The service has always had basic editing, and because Google Plus shares its photo albums with Picasa any edits made there would propagate back from there.
But building them in makes things so much easier.
The new controls only work in the desktop version, and is accessed by pressing clicking the edit button when you're in the full-screen light-box view and selecting "Creative Kit." You are then launched into an editor which is powered by PicNik.
From here, you can crop and tweak your photos, but you can also apply Instagram-style filters, and perform some pretty powerful edits. The "Sunless Tan" tool, for example, does what it says. You use a brush to apply the tan and it somehow works out where the edges are and turns anyone into a Florida retiree.
Right now there is also a seasonal toolkit: Halloween. This lets you add blood spatter, gravestones, "Dracula Dermis" and other fun nonsense to your pictures.
The Creative Kit uses Flash to do its magic, so even if you manage to sign in to the non-mobile version of Google Plus from an iPad you can't use it. If any readers have Flash-capable Android tablets, try it out and let us know how it goes. On the other hand, this is good enough to be a Photoshop replacement for many people, and that, combined with speed, may be scary for other sites like the neglected Flickr.
The Creative Kit is available now to Google Plus users.
